On Wednesdays, we’ll reflect: See below for some some of what I’ve learned from the week to inspire reflection, a well-being soundbite, and a view of my wish list / recs / things I’m currently obsessing over. 🙂
1/3. W.I.L.T.W (What I Learned This Week)
Are You Subconsciously De-Magnetizing Your Potential?
A magnetized piece of iron will lift about twelve times its own weight. But if you demagnetize this same piece of iron, it will not lift a feather.
I get a lot of my inspiration from the things I am reading and I just picked up The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy on Monday night. Within reading the first ten pages, this quote got my brain running. A sign of me finding a book thought provoking is me running for a pen to annotate it, and you can see this was the case here:

Murphy beautifully illustrates the immense untapped potential within us and how our mental state dramatically influences our abilities. Just as a magnetized piece of iron can defy gravity and lift far beyond its inherent capacity, our minds, when focused and charged with belief, possess an extraordinary power to attract and achieve our goals. Our thoughts become the invisible force field that pulls our aspirations closer.
Conversely, a "demagnetized" mind, riddled with doubt, fear, and negativity, becomes incapable of lifting even the smallest of challenges. It operates from a place of limitation, constantly reinforcing its own powerlessness. This state of mental demagnetization prevents us from recognizing opportunities, stifles our initiative, and ultimately leads to stagnation. Like the demagnetized iron, we remain tethered to our perceived limitations, unable to leverage our inherent strengths.
This begs the question: if we recognize our minds as magnets capable of attracting fulfillment and joy, why would we willingly demagnetize ourselves? So often, we fall into the trap of believing that physical action alone will dispel our mental doubts. However, shifting our perspective to view the mind as the primary magnet transforms our understanding. Action then becomes not a battle against our doubts, but rather the tangible actualization of our powerfully magnetic thoughts taking form in the world.
The contrast between the "demagnetized" and the "magnetized" person is stark. The demagnetized mind, paralyzed by "what if I don't succeed?" and the fear of judgment, remains stuck. In stark contrast, the magnetized mind, fueled by its own powerful attraction, flips this script entirely - generating the courage needed to act, to take the necessary steps to bring its thoughts into reality.
This understanding reframes manifestation. It's not merely about passively wishing, but about actively engaging our mental magnetism. Think of the Law of Attraction as the powerful synergy between two magnetic forces: our focused thoughts and the inspired actions they drive. Over time, these consistent actions, born from a magnetized mindset, become the physical manifestation of our initial mental pull, solidifying our desires into tangible reality. By recognizing our minds as this potent magnetic vessel, we empower ourselves to move beyond inertia and actively draw our envisioned life into being.
2/3. Well-being Weapons
You Are The Luckiest Person In The World
Carrying across the theme of how our mind can act like a powerful magnet, I wanted to share a perspective on life I've picked up from a colleague I admire. He consistently says, "I'm the luckiest person in the world," and it's something he applies whether things are going well or when he's facing difficulties. I’m going to try my best to give his beautifully simple yet empowering explanation of this feeling justice: luck, isn't some arbitrary force, but rather a direct outcome of our perspective. He highlighted two key elements:
The Art of Celebration Without Inflation: Lucky individuals wholeheartedly celebrate their wins, soaking in joy & gratitude. However, they possess the wisdom to prevent these successes from inflating their ego. They remain grounded, understanding that achievement is a moment, not a permanent state of superiority.
Transforming Setbacks into Stepping Stones: When faced with losses or adversity, the "luckiest" among us choose to view these experiences not as defeats, but as invaluable lessons ripe for extraction. Instead of dwelling on disappointment, they actively seek the wisdom embedded within the challenge, using it as fuel to propel their future growth and resilience.
From this vantage point, luck isn't something that happens to you, but something you actively cultivate and control through the lens you choose to view your life. By consciously celebrating our victories with humility and extracting growth from our setbacks with intention, we essentially magnetize more positive outcomes and navigate challenges with greater strength. This isn't about blind optimism; it's about an empowered mindset that transforms every experience into an opportunity for well-being and advancement. So, perhaps the real "wellness weapon" lies in adopting the unwavering belief: "I am the luckiest person in the world."
3/3. What’s Wowing Me: Weekly Obsessions
This one is simple but is tied to how I manage the inspiration I draw for writing on The Root 9. For as long as I can remember, annotating has been one of my favorite things to do in a physical novel. To this day, it’s the reason I struggle with reading virtually on a Kindle.
I’ve been using these little sticky tabs to take note of quotes I want to save for future blogs or just save for myself for when I dust off an older book from the shelf. You can get very organized with it if you want to, applying different meanings to different tabs. For example, things I sticky as yellow I save for motivation and my red stickies inspire a thought-provoking question I write on the side 🙂
