On Fridays, we’ll take a breath: See below for some commentary on apparel trends I’m loving or things I’m eyeing, a fun activity to consider, and some food for thought as you enter your weekend 🙂

1/3. Food for Thought

Where are we focusing heavily on making a living versus the act of truly living?

The goal isn't to choose one over the other. Both "making a living" and "truly living" are vital. We need to secure our future, but not at the expense of our present. The trick is finding that delicate, beautiful balance.

As you head into your weekend, I encourage you to reflect: How can you infuse more moments of true living into your days, even amidst the demands of making a living? Don't just go through the motions; embrace the richness of your life in the present.

2/3. Fun!

A Berry Good Time

The San Leandro Cherry Festival is just around the corner next weekend 🍒 ! Cherries are my favorite fruit, and it feels just write to talk about the festival this week in case you want to plan it into your weekend for the 7th of June. For folks outside of the bay, this may inspire you to see what similar berry-centric events might be happening in your neck of the woods. I think of these events as a leveled-up farmers market – more events, greater local organization and community engagement, and potentially a broader range of vendors or a more curated selection.

For my Bay Area readers, the San Leandro Cherry Festival is a tradition dating all the way back to 1909. This vibrant event features a festive parade through downtown San Leandro with community organizations and local businesses, lively music, over 150 vendor booths, and, of course, a fresh cherry market. If hitting the farmers market is already a cherished part of your weekend routine, this is a fantastic way to spice things up. Plus, it's the perfect excuse to enjoy the beautiful Bay Area weather as things warm up.

For my other readers, berries are generally in season throughout the summer months. So while you might not have a cherry-specific event near you, I recommend looking for a fun activity focused on other berries:

  • Strawberries (in season April through June)

  • Blueberries (in season May to October)

  • Raspberries (in season May through September)

  • Blackberries (in season June through August)

Souvenirs with Character

This might be a bit personal to my current weekend, but I'm spending Thursday through Sunday in Sedona for my bachelorette trip! One thing I knew I wanted to do was find a cool vintage tee to lounge in, something that perfectly captured the vibe of the weekend.

Picking up memorabilia like a cool crewneck or graphic tee from a place you're visiting is always fun. But I find even more joy in sourcing a truly unique tee from sites like Etsy, Depop, or eBay specifically for a trip or destination. I wanted to share two tees I bought for this weekend that feel like a true homage to Sedona, without looking like I just grabbed them from an airport gift shop (no shame in that, though – I probably will do that too).

If you have a fun trip planned, consider checking out a reseller site to find something that speaks to you. It's a great way to elevate even simple denim shorts, jeans, or activewear. For me, it helps commemorate the trip; I love having fond memories tied to a particular piece of clothing.

If you have a different or unique way to find souvenirs when you travel, I’d love to hear them 🙂 Please share them with me by replying to this email!

I'm so grateful you've taken the time to read and engage with the newsletter. To help me make it better, I'd love to hear any thoughts or feedback you have. Feel free to send any requests, ideas, or suggestions to [email protected]!
