Three newsletters, three topics, designed to flow with your weekly rhythm.

Thanks for being here. If this was forwarded to you, you can subscribe here to join The Root 9 Community.

On Mondays, we’ll lock in together: See below for a motivational tidbit to start your week, perspective on movement I’m focusing on, and music I’m enjoying I’d like to share with you 🙂

Note: A quick reminder that as I soak up the final moments of wedding planning, I'll be keeping our newsletters a bit shorter over the next few weeks. I appreciate your patience and can't wait to share more aspects of the day with you all soon!

Motivation

“But we cannot simply sit and stare at our wounds forever.”

Haruki Murakami, 1Q84

This week, I ran out of space in the notebooks I’ve been using for the past couple months and went through an old pile to find one with a large chunk of untouched pages to use. I found one and I had written this quote on it’s interior to myself (unsure of when):

While this might sound a bit dark, I've been thinking about it as a reminder of our capacity for transformation. An opportunity to redefine a limit of what you are capable of. It’s not about ignoring our pain or pretending it doesn't exist. Rather, an acknowledgment that past hurts and setbacks are real and are a part of our story.

We can turn our energy away from what was broken and toward what we can build. Not just in spite of the wounds, but letting them inform our future with a sense of wisdom and fortitude.

Intention for the Week: This week, I'm focused on using the energy I would spend on rehashing a setback and channeling it into a proactive step toward a goal. Mindset is half the battle. Choose to move from analysis to action and dwelling to doing with me this week. 🙂
