On Fridays, we’ll take a breath: See below for some commentary on apparel trends I’m loving or things I’m eyeing, a fun activity to consider, and some food for thought as you enter your weekend 🙂

Note: A quick reminder that as I soak up the final moments of wedding planning, I'll be keeping our newsletters a bit shorter over the next few weeks. I appreciate your patience and can't wait to share more aspects of the day with you all soon!

Food for Thought

What's one thing in your life you've accepted as "just the way it is"?

I’ve always been someone who bites their nails / skin surrounding them. For as long as I can remember, it’s just been one of those things that I accepted as part of who I am. I think it started as a stress coping mechanism very early on, but it has become so habitual that I often just do it if I’m bored or subconsciously.

Even though it’s always bothered me and I’ve tried different avenues to stop (bad-tasting nail polish, fidget toys, etc) deep down I always doubted that I'd actually be able to kill the habit for good. I'd stop for a while, but I figured it was just something I'd always "do."

Recently, In addition to using remedies, I started trying to tell myself that it wasn’t something I do and it’s something I'm not cool with / don’t want to tolerate. It seems like a somewhat harsh and small shift, but it has started to make a difference by adjusting the expectations I have for myself with it.

While I'm not perfect, changing the way I think about the habit has helped me make more progress than before. This got me thinking about today’s question: What's one thing in your life you've accepted as "just the way it is"? Maybe it's a habit, a belief, or a situation that you've always felt was a part of you. Would reframing how you think about it and deciding it's no longer something you do or accept make a difference?

I'm so grateful you've taken the time to read and engage with the newsletter. To help me make it better, I'd love to hear any thoughts or feedback you have. Feel free to send any requests, ideas, or suggestions to [email protected]!
