On Wednesdays, we’ll reflect: See below for some some of what I’ve learned from the week to inspire reflection, a well-being soundbite, and a view of my wish list / recs / things I’m currently obsessing over. 🙂
Note: A quick reminder that as I soak up the final moments of wedding planning, I'll be keeping our newsletters a bit shorter over the next few weeks. I appreciate your patience and can't wait to share more aspects of the day with you all soon!
W.I.L.T.W (What I Learned This Week)
The Last 5% Isn’t Always Worth It
It’s 4:40 a.m. on Wednesday. I usually publish this newsletter at 5:30 a.m., and I’m still awake. Not because I forgot to do something (and yes that has obviously led to late nights), but because I couldn’t stop tweaking something I cared about so much. I didn’t have the idea for the newsletter drafted ready to go a day ago like I normally would. I got caught in the loop, trying to make something perfect, even when I knew it might not matter that much.
This week’s lesson came in real time: when you push for perfection, you might be trading tomorrow’s clarity for today’s control.
The final 5% is rarely free. It often costs sleep, energy, and momentum. And sometimes, it doesn’t even move the needle. Perfection is a moving target. The more you refine, the more flaws you find. It’s easy to lose sight of what “done” actually looks like. This week reminded me that “good enough” isn’t laziness, sometimes it’s wisdom. And sometimes, the most mindful thing you can do is close the laptop and go to bed.
