How do you balance and honor the commitments you make to yourself while prioritizing those you give to your career, partner, family, and loved ones?

Happy Halloween! My dose of spooky reality for you is that I’m candidly writing this at 1:03 AM.

This question is inspired by something I've been meditating on, tied directly to the circumstances and time at which I am writing this. How do you balance the commitments you make to your personal self, your career, your partner, your family, and your friends?

I’m pretty aware of a pattern that’s been fairly constant in my own life: I almost always let the commitments I make to myself slip in lieu of honoring those that impact more people than just me. This could be as small as skipping 15 minutes to actually craft a meal, or abandoning 10 minutes before bed to take care of my skin properly. These personal promises are the first to go when my calendar gets crowded.

I honestly don’t know if I would change that operating model, but it is making me question at what point does prioritizing yourself deserve to be elevated? At what point does consistently showing up for others become a consistent habit of letting yourself down that amasses on itself?

With that being said, I am keeping today a bit short and only focusing on this section. I apologize! More next week. This is my small attempt to prioritize getting some more z's under my belt and feeling rested for my day tomorrow. I will see you with a full Friday install in November. All love ❤️
