Hi friends, thank you for being here! With the holidays approaching, I’ll be leaning in to spending time with family and friends and moving to a shorter version of The Root 9 through year-end. I’ll be sharing Motivation on Mondays, What I Learned This Week on Wednesdays, and Food For Thought on Fridays. I’m going to take some of that time back from preparing a shorter newsletter to think about next year, including what is in store for The Root 9 and how I am thinking about evolving it as we approach its anniversary in February 🙂 And, in the spirit of The Root 9, being more present during the holidays, closing the year out strong, and recharging. I hope you are able to do the same

I’ve been excited to use this quote for a while now. It comes from the author of one of Dylan’s favorite books, The Alchemist, and I think its the perfect sentiment for the final week of the year.

As the new year approaches, i find it easy to feel a sense of overwhelm. Our social media feeds are flooded with content about resolutions, goals, and the pressure to start January off "strong." Sometimes, all that noise brews into a collection of lofty expectations that we don’t actually buy into deeply, making us feel like we aren’t set up for success.

I think there is a powerful reframe we can lean into to remove some of that weight. Instead of only focusing on what we are adding to our plates, what are we striving to say goodbye to? Asking ourselves that question allows us to dream bigger because we are mentally acknowledging what we are choosing to let go of.

By identifying the habits, mindsets, or burdens that no longer serve us, we create space to reprioritize our energy. Being brave enough to close one chapter is what gives us the room to say hello to the things we actually hope to achieve in the coming months.

Intention for the Week: Identify one thing you are ready to leave behind to create space for a new opportunity you want to welcome in.
