Food for Thought

Are you caught up on starting something new simply because you feel it needs to be ‘perfect’ when you do?

I’m thinking about this question a lot right now, quite honestly, in relation to The Root 9. Last year, when I first started envisioning how this project could take form, I spent a lot of time agonizing over the smaller details instead of simply beginning. I had set some ambitious goals for myself during the year-end break to start this first week of January with renewed clarity and a refined structure for the newsletter and how I wanted to take it on for further evolution in 2026.

However, the reality of the holidays looked a bit different. I prioritizing spending more time present with family and friends I do not see often, and I chose that connection over sitting at my laptop (even sometimes just chatting on a 2h long car ride, versus pulling out the laptop to focus on this). As a result, I haven't had as much time for that reflection I originally intended. Despite that, I am incredibly glad that I did not keep waiting for the perfect moment to launch this almost a year ago. There will always be elements I want to revise or adjust, and I doubt this is the last time I will feel the urge to tweak the formula.

With work picking back up on Monday, I want to be intentional about how I spend my upcoming days. This weekend and next are really the only windows I have to dedicate to playing around with the changes I want to implement. Because of that, I am going to take next week away from writing to focus on those updates and set the stage for what is next. Thank you for being part of this journey while it is still in its "imperfect" stages.

I will see you back here on the 12th!

I'm so grateful you've taken the time to read and engage with the newsletter. To help me make it better, I'd love to hear any thoughts or feedback you have. Feel free to send any requests, ideas, or suggestions to [email protected]!
